Stone crab claws are shipped in an insulated box with a bag of ice via priority overnight shipping to ensure you receive the freshest product. It is normal for the ice to melt in transit. When opening the package, as long as there is still icy cold water inside, the food and the contents of your order are safe to eat. Once the package is delivered to your doorstep, it is recommended that the claws be transferred to the refrigerator for storage.
Upon delivery, claws should be kept uncracked and in a bowl in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Claws are cooked at the fishery right after they are caught, so no cooking is necessary. Please note, freezing the claws is not recommended. Once you’re ready to enjoy, claws can be cracked with any type of wooden mallet or even a hammer in a pinch!
