TLDR: Letting your recipient know something is on the way — or sharing their tracking info — is the simplest way to make sure it's enjoyed as intended. For packages containing alcohol, an adult (21+) must be present to sign, or the carrier won't leave it. Goldbelly isn't responsible for spoilage or missed deliveries when a recipient isn't available.
What happens if my recipient isn't home and misses their delivery?
Part of sending great food is making sure it actually gets enjoyed. Since most Goldbelly orders are perishable, we recommend letting your recipient know something delicious is on its way — even if it's just a hint. A little heads-up goes a long way toward making sure the moment lands the way you imagined it.
A couple of easy ways to help:
- Forward their tracking information so they can plan around the delivery window.
- Add their email at checkout and they'll receive automatic shipping updates as the order makes its way to them.
Not sure of the right date or address? Our e-gift option lets your recipient choose both — a great solution when timing or logistics are uncertain.
Please note that Goldbelly is not responsible for food that is collected warm or is damaged because a recipient wasn't aware of their delivery.
Carrier Discretion
Notifying your recipient of an upcoming delivery is the sender's responsibility. Most packages don't require a signature, but FedEx and UPS drivers will only leave a package unattended if they consider the location safe and secure. If no one is home and the carrier determines otherwise, Goldbelly is not responsible for product damage or any additional shipping fees that may follow.
Adult Signature Required (21+)
Packages containing alcohol require an adult signature (21+) at the door — carriers will not leave these unattended under any circumstances. Deliveries are made between 8am and 10pm local time. If no one is available to sign, the delivery won't be completed, and Goldbelly isn't responsible for packages that can't be delivered as a result.
