TLDR: It's on the purchaser to keep the recipient in the loop, but adding the recipient's email at checkout means they'll get shipping updates automatically.
Letting the recipient know a gift is on the way is the purchaser's responsibility. The easiest way to keep them in the loop is to add their email address during checkout so they receive shipping updates automatically, which includes when the order ships, when it's out for delivery, and when it arrives.
You (and the recipient, if their email was provided) will get a shipping notification once the order is on its way.
A few important things to keep in mind about delivery:
- FedEx and UPS will only leave a package unattended if the driver considers the location safe — such as a front door, mailroom, or secure locker.
- If the recipient isn't available and the driver doesn't consider the location safe, the package may not be left. Goldbelly isn't responsible for damaged or spoiled products or delays that result from this.
- If your recipient has existing UPS My Choice preferences on file for their address, UPS will follow those automatically, whether that means redirecting to a UPS Access Point or an alternate address. This isn't something Goldbelly can control or change.
